Process safety professionals are invited to share feedback on new artificial intelligence tool

Aberdeen-based process safety firm, Salus Technical, is inviting process safety professionals to participate in a free demo of its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, ahead of the release of the full product later this year. The demo is accessible by invitation only and will run for two months.

HAZOP.AI, which is designed for Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), will prompt users to consider risks they may have missed, assist in answering questions, and provide guidance on good practice.  It is applicable to all major hazard industries but is particularly relevant to emerging energy industries such as hydrogen, carbon capture and geothermal.

Founder and MD of Salus Technical, David Jamieson is passionate about sharing learnings from previous incidents in mature industries such as oil and gas.  He said, “Saving lives in hazardous environments is at the very core of all that we do.  It is crucial that we learn from the past, to avoid major accidents in new, emerging industries, which are essential for net zero.

“Similar to ChatGPT by Open AI, we are releasing this demo as a trial run, to gather feedback from fellow industry experts, and ensure that our HAZOP software is the best that it can be.  HAZOPs are one of the most important exercises done to identify sources of major accidents, and utilising the latest technology will not only improve safety, it will also shorten the time frame in which HAZOPs are completed.

HAZOP AI is Salus Technical’s third process safety product to be created since 2020.  The company has recently successfully launched an on-demand training course and published a potentially life-saving guidance document based on findings from offshore inspections.  Since the guidance was published on the company website at the end of January, it has been downloaded by over 800 people and sparked numerous conversations with industry professionals.
