Meet our Head of Software Development: Sam Orme

What is your job title and responsibilities?
My job title is Head of Software Development. I am responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the Salus Suite and our AI software products.
What does a normal workday look like for you?
A normal workday for me starts with the standard checking of communication channels and checking in with my colleagues. I’ll do a quick review of the changes implemented the day before, then figure out what I want to accomplish that day. I usually know what I’ll be working on, but every day brings its own challenges.
What do you like most about your job?
I like the creative freedom I get and the ability to suggest ideas, whether it be a new feature or a new system entirely! Everyone’s very enthusiastic and great to work with, I look forward to my days in the office.
What do you want to achieve by 2029?
By 2029 I want to be running a small team building multiple fantastic software products which are used all over the world. I want to scale up and improve our existing products in the Salus Suite and launch an AI product.
What has been your favourite project to work on so far?
My favourite project so far has got to be the Incident Insight diagrams. I was given free reign to implement this and added a few “nice to have” features that have gone down very well with the team. I’m looking forward to launching it soon!
If you had an unnecessary superpower, what would it be?
My unnecessary superpower would be to see 10 seconds into the future. Having just got a puppy this would be very useful!
